"Behind The Mirror is the newest and perhaps boldest collection to date from the primitive-impressionist painter Rez Raven. These works seem a twisted invitation to inhabit a geography both sublime and devastated - a refracted wasteland of shredded landmarks, prismatic dwellings and sun-scorched portals. To strike such a balance of stoic ease and naked discomfort with these capsized netherworlds is remarkable. The artist seems to be daring us to embrace the hallucinogenic maps, these motley shrapnel wounds of post-information-age bombardment, as "broken homes". A genuinely contemporary take on human displacement on this shrinking, digitizing, collapsing globe."
